"Feeding Liezle's Potential" (Philippines)
ALO Update Vol 14 No 2
Bulua, Cagayan de Oro, Philippines—The course of Liezle’s
life was forever altered when she was just seven years old. A feeding
station established by Childcare Compassion Ministries Philippines
(CCMP) in conjunction with a local Assemblies of God church gave
food to the malnourished child and nurtured something deeper.
Liezle loved going to the feeding station—not only for the
physical food she needed so much, but for the spiritual food as well.
She listened intently to the Bible stories and participated fully
in all the lessons and songs.
The ALO-assisted feeding station did more than fill Liezle’s
empty belly for a few hours: it helped feed Liezle’s hope for
the future—and her hunger for Jesus. Even after the feeding
program ended in her area, Liezle stayed involved in the local church.
The provision Liezle found in Jesus reached out to touch her family
too. Liezle’s father, Harry, is now the pastor of the church
that assisted them with CCMP’s help. Knowing the importance
and power of the feeding stations, Liezle’s father applied
to have a CCMP station launched in the same location so another generation
of struggling children—and their families—might find
hope and help in Jesus.
Now a beautiful, committed young woman of fifteen, Liezle teaches
younger children the same Bible stories she heard at the same feeding
station she attended when she was seven. Her goal is to follow someday
in her father’s footsteps and be a “Bible woman.” She
has a heart for the needy children all around her. “I am greatly
motivated and moved by the compassion and wonderful services of CCMP
to the less fortunate children all over the Philippines.”
Liezle thanks all the staff and supporters who make the feeding stations
possible and prays for their good health and blessings. “By
God’s grace and blessings, we now have a better life than before,” Liezle
says with gratitude. She adds, “I want the program to continue
so that many lives will draw near to Jesus and ask for forgiveness.”
