Super Typhoon Leaves Unexpected Gift
Philippines | When Typhoon Rai exploded to become a super typhoon, the children and staff at Happy Horizons Children’s Ranch (HHCR) had little time to prepare for a direct hit. With prayers for protection, they hunkered down and waited for the monster storm to pass. When they emerged, they found flooding and devastation all around them. Thankfully, everyone was safe. But the beautiful HHCR campus was shockingly changed. Many tall, beautiful trees had been uprooted by the powerful winds.
However, the Ranch kids learned a valuable lesson about God’s provision—and that every storm cloud has its silver lining. The land that the storm had cleared was now perfect for planting crops. They swung into action, and soon the newly cleared land was producing bumper crops of beans and other vegetables to feed the children. There were even enough beans to sell for much-needed extra income.
