Word Transforms Translators, Community

Southeast Asia | Two translators hired to transcribe the gospels of Mark and Luke into the language of a local tribe got more than money for their efforts. The words of the gospel penetrated deep into their hearts. They and their spouses were the first in the village to believe and be baptized in the name of Jesus.

That this could happen is nothing short of a miracle. Hope Preschool and Community Center ministers in two locations to children of a previously isolated Muslim tribe. They also provide tutoring and other practical services for needy families. One of the ministry leaders had a providential encounter with the tribe’s leader. As positive relationships grew, the Sultan asked the Hope worker to translate the holy books—the Pentateuch, Psalms, Proverbs, and the Gospels—into the tribe’s language. These books are considered holy in Islam, but they’re not usually available for Muslims to read for themselves.

The power of God’s Word to transform lives is evident. As the Bible translation continues, and as more families come to faith, Hope plans to disciple them and plant a church for the new believers.
