No Better Time: A Time to Dance

Months of sex slavery have caused untold damage to young Indonesian girls. Their bodies have been ravaged, their spirits crushed. They no longer smile. The light in their eyes has gone out. The music has died. They have lived through a time of mourning; could it soon be time to dance?
Yes! November is a time of New Beginnings in Indonesia. Earlier this year, we introduced you to Tammy, who, with her husband, Mitch, launched a safe home for entire families rescued from the dehumanizing sex industry. This November, New Beginnings shifts its focus to helping children—sex-trafficked girls under the age of 17. The group that met the needs of multiple generations of families will now provide safe shelter, education, medical care, a loving home, trauma counseling, legal aid, and hope for a brighter future for the first of many young victims.
These girls have suffered unfathomable pain and damage. But we believe God has good things in store for them. With help from Asia’s Little Ones and friends like you, countless former slaves will, for the first time, experience new beginnings and everlasting freedom. With your help, they’ll trade their time of mourning for a time of celebration and joy—a time to dance.
Indonesia has more than 17,000 islands and many thousands of trafficked children but less than 50 beds for survivors. More are desperately needed. New Beginnings is a good start.
Tammy’s Story
In 2018, God gave me a dream of five Asian girls with chains wrapped around their ankles being transported through an airport in Indonesia by a woman wearing dark sunglasses. My husband and I were stunned that the government agents let them through security without questioning them. How can they not see their chains, I wondered. As I ran after the children in my dream, I told my husband, “We have to do something!”
In a later scene in the dream, I walked down a hall of a home that was half living space and half business office. To the right was a bedroom where those same trafficked children sat, each on her own clean, freshly made bed. Their chains were gone! I was on my way to tell them who their deliverer was: Jesus!
I woke up with a new calling. This is where New Beginnings was birthed in my heart. We believe that now is the time to open our doors to sex--trafficked girls. Now is the time to join us in prayer and partner with us to ensure that this dream comes true and we can soon tell these girls who has delivered them: Jesus!
