No Better Time: A Time to Build

Bangkok Refugee Assistance

Increasing unrest in the world has led to the vast movement of refugees. Thailand is a temporary refuge to almost 100,000 of these refugees. Although many come from neighboring Myanmar, refugees from about 40 additional countries live an uncertain life in Thailand while waiting for another country to accept them—a process that can take many years.

While they wait, refugees have no official status. Most cannot work or attend school, since they are not citizens. Bangkok Refugee Assistance gives scholarships to children — many of them Christians — who would otherwise have no educational opportunities. In an exciting twist of providence, many refugees come from the most dangerous, closed nations on earth—places seemingly beyond the reach of the gospel or our efforts to share it. But they are not beyond God’s reach. And because of this ministry to refugees, friends of Asia’s Little Ones have the opportunity to reach into the heart of these closed nations.

Among refugees in Thailand, the needs are great. But so are the opportunities. Those committed to meeting refugee children’s educational needs have a great vision for many projects that will drastically improve the lives and future prospects of these children and their families.

Pastor Dana Metcalf, who oversees the Bangkok Refugee Scholarship program, needs your help. “We are not able to move forward with any of these new projects without prayer and support. The need is great, and we want to show the love of Jesus through every action, united in Him and reflecting the Father’s love for His creation.”
