Breaking News: Super Nova Shines Bright

Nova guides the next generation of rising stars at Esperanza House.

New house mom appointed, has long history with Esperanza House.

PALOPO, INDONESIA | The girls at Esperanza House have a brighter future thanks to new house mom Nova. Besides meeting the girls’ physical needs as they attend school while living at the home, Nova is passionate about discipling them so they can hear the voice of God, as she did when she was in their position. She wants each girl to know—perhaps for the first time—that she is loved and celebrated by God. Nova will never forget the life--changing moment when she first truly understood that truth.

In 2013, when Doris and Tim Eckert began the ministry that would later become Esperanza House, Nova was in the first class of girls blessed with a loving place to stay while completing their education in the city, a rare opportunity for poor village girls. Nova’s heart was touched when the Eckerts celebrated her birthday with a party—her one and only birthday party. She felt special and loved. She determined then that she wanted to help every village girl feel the same way.

Later, during worship and prayer, Nova heard God telling her to get her education and then return to work in the ministry. A bright future awaited the bright and motivated girl on the main island, but no offer—of marriage, scholarships, or job opportunities—was enough to shake her from her call to return.

New girls come to Esperanza House, and they see in Nova what they can become. They get an education, but they learn so much more than math, science, and computer skills. They learn that God loves them and has a plan for their lives. They learn that their future can be brighter than their humble beginnings would make likely. More than successful, they are celebrated.

“Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.” — Daniel 12:3 NIV
